The IT Services are responsible for:
- Plan wireless or wireless network signal coverage;
- Install and configure access points (APs) that emit the wireless signal;
- Monitor and maintain APs;
- Provide IP connectivity (IPv4 and IPv6) to users connecting to APs, just as if they were connecting to the physical network;
- Implement wireless network access control mechanisms, standardized according to Eduroam network specifications.
Eduroam Network
Técnico is connected to the Eduroam global network.
Locally, this is a wireless network service, where users are allowed to roam securely between different Higher Education and research institutions (worldwide). Externally, users of the Técnico community will be able to use their credentials to access the Eduroam networks of other Higher Education or research schools (hence the pertinent need to use the suffix @tecnico.ulisboa.pt in the username field when configuring the connection to the Eduroam network).
Generic wireless network configuration parameters for Técnico Eduroam
To access the eduroam wireless network, you must have IST authentication credentials, as well as the Certificate from Instituto Superior Técnico installed in the device.
